I’ve always had a vision of working with children who have special needs. After getting my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education I knew I wanted to learn more. I went to Bank Street College of Education where I received a dual Masters Degree in Early Intervention/Infancy and Parenting (Birth-Second Grade). I then worked with MPC center in Manhattan where I worked as a SEIT (Special Education Itinerant Teacher). I had the opportunity to work with a multitude of children and families, supporting them in their home environment as well as in their school. I organized meetings with the related service providers, schools, and families, to ensure everyone was on the same page, in supporting the child. After having my youngest son; Oliver, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at age 3, I knew my journey as a special educator would become a reality in my daily life. The vision I had of what Oliver’s life would be, and accepting the diagnosis and what life is going to be has become our journey.
