Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is direct instruction?

Q: What age(s) do you generally work with?

A: While my background is birth to second grade, I specialize in birth to age five.

Q: Is it always going to be this hard?

A: Parenting a child who has special needs is a lifelong journey. This territory comes with ups and downs. Getting the right tools in place  and setting realistic family goals will help in this life.

Q: Why is play so important?

A: Many parents do not realize how important the act of playing is to a child’s development. Play is the basic foundation by which we build relationships. What looks like play to us is how children learn about the world around them. Through play you bond with your child. Your child’s developmental disability can interfere with these skills.

Q: How long will it take for my child to catch up to their typical developing peers?

A: I find that the best barometer of a child’s progress is to compare what he or she has learned and whether they’re showing gains.
